Creative, persistent, analytical all of these terms describe a good criminal defense investigator. When a prominent Pasadena pediatrician was charged with first-degree murder in the death of another doctor, his alleged mistress, defense attorneys needed to address issues of pre-meditation. PII’s investigator visited the scene, found witnesses that had been overlooked, and pieced together compelling evidence to counter the prosecution’s theory. The investigator also testified at trial. In the end, the doctor was convicted of the lesser charge of murder in the second degree.
Whether your client is facing a potential homicide conviction or less serious allegations, PII provides the defense team with proven investigative experience and can shoulder some of the burden of a high-stress criminal trial.

In People v. Robert Rodriguez, PII was retained to assist defense counsel for Rodriguez, who was charged with multiple criminal counts, including a death-penalty level murder. A critical piece of evidence in the murder case was a small coin purse found in a search of Rodriguez’s home. The purse had the victim’s initial on it, and the victim’s husband identified it as his wife’s purse, a gift from his sister. To double check this information, PII’s investigator approached the husband’s sister, making an unscheduled visit to her workplace. When shown a picture of the purse in evidence, the sister corrected the record, saying that it was not the purse she had given the victim. She was sure of this fact because she had bought the same purse for herself. PII secured the woman’s declaration, which was used at trial. Rodriguez was acquitted of the murder and avoided the death penalty.
