An employee complains that her supervisor is engaging in sexual harassment and gender bias. A department manager suspects that a member of his staff is using illegal drugs while on the job. Top executives are worried that disgruntled employees are sharing trade secrets with the firm’s competitors. Whatever the underlying charges may be, getting to the truth is always a challenging undertaking.

Over the past 25 years, PII has conducted investigations in almost every type of workplace. PII’s investigators are sensitive to each client’s organizational needs and can adapt quickly to the individual concerns of every business. PII investigators think through the steps of the investigation and consider every detail, providing clients with a fair and complete investigation that will withstand the close scrutiny of key stakeholders.

After a national restaurant chain settled two widely publicized racial discrimination lawsuits, other similar complaints against the company emerged. Working with both the court-appointed monitor for the litigation and the firm’s top managers, PII developed protocols for investigating the new complaints, which often included only sketchy information of such key details as the exact date and time of the incident or which employees were involved. PII’s team contacted the customers; traveled to the restaurant locales; interviewed employees and managers; reviewed timesheets, staff schedules, and log books; and drafted fact-based reports about the incidents. Based on the results of PII’s investigations, both the court’s monitor and the company could determine the validity of the new claims and develop strategies to address problems.
